IT’S all happening at the newly-revamped Tamworth skate park this weekend.
Today, the skate park will transform into a hive of activity with the official open day of its new facilities.
For the past six months
Tamworth Regional Council has been working on the park and have installed a new “BMX park” thanks to $100,000 in
Federal Government stimulus funding.
Council Youth Services coordinator Steve Blanch told The Leader the open day would begin from 9am with professoressional riders from the Colony BMX team visiting the park for the day.
“We’ll have a couple of
competitions on the day and entertainment by some bands provided,” he said.
“Youth In Search will also provide a barbecue lunch.”
The skate park revamp had also been assisted by local Kris Faulkner of Xtreme Cycles.
Kris had drawn up his own vision of a skate park design
several years ago.
He said there had been an overwhelming response to the design with skateboard riders happy “they had their ramps back.”
