Stolen bikes top of the line

30 Jun, 2009 09:32 AM
XTREME Cycles fell victim to a break and enter attack at the weekend.

Those responsible for the attack are believed to have used a rock to repeatedly bang on the front window of the shop until the double-glazed window finally gave way and cracked.

“It looks like they then kicked their way in,” shop owner Brett Williams said.

Two of the store’s specialised BMX bikes were stolen following the break-in and three others were damaged.

The two bikes that were stolen were top-of-the-range models.

“One was a brand new, red Kink Whip 2010 freestyle bike which had only just been released,” Mr Williams said.

“The other was a custom-built freestyle bike.”

Mr Williams, who set up the business at the bottom end of Darling St about 12 months ago, said he had already provided police with CCTV images from the store’s cameras in an attempt to find the culprits. A police forensics officer attended the shop yesterday to dust for fingerprints.
