Tamworth Rotary Clubs' annual book sale is in its 21st year and this year's event will be the biggest and best yet.

An expected 100,000 books and other kinds of publications will be on sale from 8.30am this Saturday in Shop 17 in the Homemaker Centre.

Rotarian Paul Cole said about 50 per cent of the stock on offer were novels, from small to large soft cover books, through to small to medium to large hard cover books.

"There are about 40 different categories of books," he said.

"There'll also be records, CDs, cassettes and videos for sale too."

Mr Cole said a number of collectors' items would be offered, including a compete set of National Geographic magazines from 1952 to 1990, six copies of Biggles' novels as well as a number of books and magazines on the Royal Family dating back to the early 1900s.

Last year the Tamworth club was able to donate $23,000 to local community and charity groups and events like the book sale were an important part of that fundraising drive.

The sale will open from 8.30am on Saturday and close at 5pm. It will also be open from 9am to 2pm on Sunday. Mr Cole said a raffle would be run for Mother's Day on Saturday.

He said there was plenty of parking space and entry to the centre was accessed from either Ringers Rd or Greg Norman Drive. "We'll open again next weekend as well and we'll have some fresh stocks of books that we're holding back," Mr Cole said.
