MP receives several anxious calls

06 Apr, 2009 08:37 AM
MEMBER for Tamworth Peter Draper has vowed to assist the Gunnedah locals whose marriages were deemed invalid after their wedding documents failed to reach the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry.

Mr Draper said he had received a number of calls from concerned couples who could not obtain their marriage certificates.

“We’ve had a number of people contact us,” Mr Draper said.

“It’s a really sad and very disturbing circumstance and people are resentful and upset their documents were

missing.

“I’ve contacted the church hierarchy and the Attorney-General on their behalf and we’re hopeful something will happen.”

Anyone who has been affected by the missing document saga is welcome to contact The Leader on 6768 1232.
