MOONBI will be motoring at the weekend as classic cars, tractors, trucks and even stationary machinery roar to life under the expert coaxing of enthusiasts.
It is the annual Moonbi/Kootingal Motor Show and Historical Machinery Exhibition, and this year, more exhibits than ever before are expected to fill the Moonbi Showground.
Last year, more than 160 exhibitors from as far afield as Warwick in Queensland, Griffith, the Shoalhaven and Dubbo, brought their pride and joys to share with 3000 spectators, from like-minded fanatics to the mildly curious.
There are classic cars, hot-rods and street cars; classic modern and competition bikes, vintage trucks, cars and cabs, and of course stationary motors.
See the fine engineering miracles that brought about the industrial age.
For the spectators, there will be plenty of noise, the sweet smell of an old exhaust and don’t forget the tractor pull and even a tractor trek for the old steel wheel and working tractors. How far can they go?
And once again, there are many new and not-to-be-missed attractions from the locals including a 1925 six horsepower Austral engine, owned and fully restored by Chris Sharman to a collection of 295 rare and restored mowers, belonging to Peter Goodhew of Quirindi.
Eddie Greening from Quirindi will have three Lister engines on display – the main attraction, a two-cylinder 12-horsepower made in 1928, sure to draw those in the know for a look.
Gates open at 9am on Saturday and Sunday, with camping available and full catering facilities on site. For more information call Jan Vidler on 0412 826 745.
