WAYNE William McGrady, 27, was arrested and charged by police from the Hunter Valley Local Area Command following a drive-by shooting at Muswellbrook on Sunday afternoon.
It is alleged at about 2pm on Sunday McGrady was travelling in a 2009 white coloured utility. He is alleged to have discharged a shortened fire arm in the direction of four pedestrians who were walking near the intersection of Wollombi Rd and Allyn Way.
No one was injured in the incident.
A short time later it is alleged McGrady threatened three more people with the firearm.
He appeared in Muswellbrook Local Court yesterday to answer to charges including discharging a firearm in a public place and two counts of assault.
At his appearance yesterday McGrady was refused bail and his case was adjourned until July 20.
Investigators said yesterday they were continuing to search for the firearm, car and two other men believed to have been in the utility at the time.
