YESTERDAY was National Ride to Work Day, where members of the working population were urged to leave their cars at home and ride their pushbikes to work.
Joblink Plus jumped on the wagon – so to speak – with several employees choosing their pushbikes over their motor vehicles.
Employment consultant Shaun Lane decided to generate support for the day by enlisting as many of his colleagues as possible to join him in riding to work.
“The day is promoting health and fitness in the workplace and it reduces road emissions,” Mr Lane said.
“I sent an email to all the staff and they were all pretty easy and jumped on board.”
Mr Lane rode from Calala, while two workmates rode from Westdale, one from Wallamore Rd, one from South Tamworth and another from Moore Creek.
Mr Lane was even able to enlist Joblink’s Tamworth branch manager Mark Chew into joining him. After all their hard work, they rewarded themselves with a “healthy” breakfast at McDonald’s.
National Ride to Work Day aims to promote the benefits of reduced greenhouse emissions, workplace wellbeing, staff productivity and reduced pressure on parking.
