CLEARING road debris and patching continued to be a high priority for Tamworth Regional Council road crews during the course of the weekend and into yesterday.

Inspections on a number of rural roads were also under way.

Rain experienced across the council region last week caused thousands of dollars of damage to the road network.

Sixteen roads closed to vehicles at the end of last week were re-opened to traffic yesterday.

A further six remained closed : Appleby Ln, Appleby; Burgmanns Ln at Goonoo Goonoo Creek, Tamworth; Duri -Dungowan Rd at Tongues Ln, Loomberah; Halls Creek Rd, Halls Creek; Locks Ln, Tamworth and Warral Rd at Timbumburi Creek, Warral.

The Crawney Rd, Starrs Crossing, Timor also remained closed south of the Isis River at the southern foot of Mount Crawney to vehicles greater than six tonne.

Road crews in Tamworth were working busily at Forest Rd yesterday morning to fill pot holes and another crew was working along the Oxley Highway toward Somerton.
