SHENHUA Watermark Coal will host a series of community information sessions on its Gunnedah project and the associated environmental impact statement (EIS).
The sessions will include a one-hour presentation and two hours for questions and discussion.
Representativ es from the Hansen Bailey team that put together the EIS will be present at each session.
A range of techical studies are being undertaken for the EIS, looking into a number of issues including social impact, agricultural impact, ecology, water resources, soils and land capability, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage, air quality and greenhouse gas, noise and blasting, geochemistry, traffic and transport, visual and lighting, and economics.
It is anticipated the EIS will be submitted to the State Planning Department mid next year.
Numbers for each session are limited to 15, to ensure everyone gets the chance to speak and ask questions.
