Arrest over a crime of fashion in Armidale

11 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
POLICE say it was a fashion mistake which led them to arrest a man allegedly involved in an Armidale break-in this week.

Officers responded to a break-in early Thursday morning in which keys were stolen to a car as well as a Ralph Lauren “lairy” pink, blue, orange and white shirt.

During the break-in those responsible also tried to remove a car from the driveway, but were unsuccessful.

Police said a friend of the victim noticed a man wearing the stolen shirt at a takeaway store at lunchtime on Thursday. He called the victim who arrived at the scene when the man was leaving.

The pair approached the man and asked him about the shirt before he ran away.

Police were called and viewed CCTV footage from which they were able to identify the man in the lairy shirt.

They arrested 19-year-old Atin Munro at an Armidale home and seized some property as well as an implement they allege was used in the break-in.

Mr Munro was

charged with aggravated

break-and-enter.
