Felicity and husband Glen Hannah (also a committed and much-respected member of the country music industry) welcomed their first child in April, so this was their first festival as a family.

There’s been no slowing down for the country artist, who is the regular host of Saturday Night Country on ABC national radio.

She returned to this job only three months after Tia was born.

Felicity has also been filling in for Ian McNamara on Summer All Over on the ABC, which she was doing the morning after she co-hosted the 40th CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia.

During the festival, Tia was out and about with grandparents Trish and Rex Urquhart, and Felicity’s sister, Rebecca McCarthy and her two young boys, Geordie and Tully, who both adore their little cousin.

Felicity said even though both herself and Glen were musical, they were not going to push this career onto their daughter.

“We sing to her all the time and she’s been to gigs with us,” she said.

“We do play her a lot of John Williamson songs, but we’re happy for her to go into the profession of her choosing.”

Conversations with fellow musicians now involve plenty of talk about children.

“We’ve all realised we have the same pram,” Felicity said.

“We’re not talking about guitars any more; it’s all about the babies.”

The singer-songwriter, who was born and raised in Tamworth, said becoming a mother had changed how she dealt with life in general.

“I let things go a bit more now and don’t get hung up on little things,” she said.

“Becoming a parent does make you realise what your priorities really are.”

Music is still a focus for Felicity and she plans to record and release an album this year.

This weekend she stars at the Whittlesea Country Music Festival followed by the Mushroom Writers Bloc in the Hunter Valley, where she will be writing with other artists including Jay O’Shea. She’s also going on a country music cruise later in the year.

She may also travel to the Americana Festival in the US.
